Articulate Foundation is a non-profit organization that was born in 2018, whose mission is to connect people and organizations worldwide, with an emphasis on Actors in Latin America, to develop actions from civil society that contribute to the human rights, democracies and sustainable development.
We are made up of human rights defenders, community leaders and social organizations with a very diverse representation in size, geography, gender composition and experiences. Our membership is open to organizations that wish to create a better world through the application of good practices, innovative models and actions with social impact, based on the transformation of realities that have people and their rights as their center. From civil society we mobilize to act collectively to serve human rights, democracies and sustainable development, with the shared belief that we can transform our environments into spaces of dignity.
With more than 20 years of experience as activists for Human Rights and Democracy in different restrictive environments in Latin America, its members have developed a resilient work methodology in challenging and hostile environments for the work of civil society. This experience has allowed them to identify patterns of weakening of democratic institutions, resurgence of populist and authoritarian models, and increased inequality and loss of values in society, not only at the local level, but also extendable to the Latin American region.
Faced with this reality, its members have highlighted the importance of establishing collaborative work methodologies between coordinated civil society organizations and prepared to face these challenges in a resilient manner.
Under this modality, Articulate Foundation has led and accompanied projects by important donors and international cooperation actors such as the Open Society Foundation, Hispanics in Philanthrophy, the governments of Germany, Norway, and the United States Institute of Peace (USIP). Likewise, working under the consortium methodology. Understanding that the key to the work methodology lies in the articulation and empowerment of these organizations.
Starting in 2018, unifying its experience through the Articulate Foundation, the organization has dedicated itself to forming robust consortia and spaces for joint action, weaving relationships of trust between all organizations to face the claim of Human Rights and the restitution of Democracy through local actions and international advocacy with a focus on citizen participation and protection of civic space.

Articulate Foundation is led by a committee of directors with extensive experience as activists and founders of Civil Society Organizations with a long history in adverse contexts and closed civic spaces; who, aware of all the challenges facing the sector, in 2018 came together to form an organization that could promote a new model of action for civil society and its access and interaction with international cooperation in search of an impactful social transformation.
